Friends of KS Reunion

The rain shimmers down the gutter as I leisurely lift my cup to my lips slowly sipping my coffee as I wonder what this summer will bring.

What a wonderful time of year on the Kansas prairie.

I was elated to meet with one of my closest friends this morning for coffee and see all three of her children. What a joy! I was able to hold her second youngest who, in fact, I was the first to hold at the hospital after mom and dad, of course. So it made that doubly joyful!

This friend, in fact, moved several states over to KS after working one summer and falling in love with the farm. Meanwhile, getting married and having several children! Wow, I held her teeny-tiny baby too. She is such a wonderful friend!

We had a good long conversation about ourselves and how our personal lives were as well as dappling in politics and world events. We talked especially about how life was changing so break-neckingly fast under the Biden administration.

On a lighter side we also talked about working out and staying fit which is a goal for the both of us. I have been, recently getting back into the swing of ab workouts, which makes my body feel better and stronger. My friend having just had a baby still is limited to only walking for a couple weeks more. Since, I left my bike in PA I guess I’m somewhat limited to walking as well. :/

And to my surprise and joy, she told me that my bridesmaids had planned a bachelorette party for me! Wow, I am so excited!

I am ahead of schedule for my Child Psychology class and working on submitting and ardently studying all my materials. And looking forward to a trip to the city soon. What a lark! I’ll be helping transport asparagus to one of my dad’s buyers.

Meanwhile, while we’re in the city we’ll be picking up a bagpipe reed that my fiancé needs for a talent show in my little town!

I also just properly identified that this part of the bagpipe is called a GOOSE! The bag is leather and the rest is wood.

The town will be so surprised I think!

Bubbles on my Latte and Pink Polish

My pastel pink nails clink against my coffee mug as I tap out the melody coming over the radio. I boldly face all the controversy and problems that lay ahead one word at a time.

The letters fall across my keyboard like a scrabble board game.

I look down at my notebook that has a quote by Benjamin Franklin. “Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.” I really like this quote and try to live a bold life.

Yesterday, was the Assumption of Our Lady, one of my favorite feast days. When the mother of God wails in pain as she gives birth to a Son that will rule the nations. But meanwhile, there’s a red 12-headed dragon, ready to swallow the baby. Quite a

So I take this to mean, in my life, that there are certain things that I want greatly but also come with great sacrifices. Including my hope to go back to college. As I sip my coffee I think about the possibilities. I think about my words, written and spoken.

Dreams often have a way of blotting up your life. Like a loaded calligraphy pen, pressed too hard against the paper. Making a line but blurring in a hundred off spurts: directions. That’s what it seems like at least. Bizarre and Beautiful as long as you can see the beauty in simple things.

Today is Saint Stephen of Hungary’s feast day. St. Stephen led many battles and was married to King Henry II’s sister, Gisella of Ungarn. He founded monasteries and dioceses. He patron saint against the death of children and of stone cutters.

So with dapples of Catholicism and big dreams,received_626271504545193.jpeg I step boldly into my day.

God Bless my readers walk with courage and strength!

Returning to College in Scotland!

Oh, my dear friends I have to tell you the most grand thing!

I talked to my admissions counselor at the college I will be attending. I have decided to take one class and perhaps an internship over the Spring semester.

My trip to Scotland, is still in the works, but I’m shooting for November. I would be staying a whole month. Or longer.

So even though it’s still a rough outline of a trip I am soooooo excited. Its a dream, that may be getting closer! So let’s keep on celebrating.

The internship previously mentioned would be for my trip and it can be 1-3 credits! Besides that with the internship I have the flexibility to study whatever my heart pleases in Scotland.

It will be such a grand adventure!

“We few we happy few we band of brothers.” (I just love that poem and what better poem to remember when thinking of Scotland, haha.

Scotland!

If you have any general travel comments or comments on Scotland, please I would love to hear them. Please comment below.

For now,

God Bless

A Dove and a Mirror

As I gazed in the mirror at my wood wicked chair I wondered what was is to come. A dove flighted off a branch and I wondered; wondered deep.

Wandering through the paths of all the “could be’s” and the “might’s.”
To a deep wonder.
I stood gazing back at my old life.
Had I achieved enough in the past?
I briefly will look back as I walk down the graduation aisle.
Did I do enough?
Did I stay the path?

As I extend my arm to toss my cap.

The dove fly’s on.

Diversion through Workouts

“A Hundred Bad days…I ain’t scared…”

This is exactly what workouts give me. Strength and diversion to defeat my fear and my bad days. It’s like for the time of my workout I’m transported to another time and place. I guess a workout is just such a diversion to normal thinking. It just is really amazing to be pushing yourself to your max. Which, for me isn’t far…haha.

through all the bad days I have a workout always brings me around. When your lifting or doing ab workouts your just one. It’s an amazing natural feeling like your stretching your body out and feeling your muscles striating like a ladder extending up to a tree.

My favorite workouts focus on abs, arms, and stretching. Though I have to say I really enjoy cardio too!

And what’s a workout without good music. Spotify has amazing workout playlists. Here’s the playlist I made for my workouts: https://open.spotify.com/user/1254973708/playlist/0EDc9bD41UcDWMTrZ9fOr7?si=G4-T69kNQZS1ZwTFXXWK4w

A couple of months ago I subscribed to Fabletics, though I don’t still have it, its was amazing! Fabletics sells workout clothes, like trendy leggings, sports bras, and activewear. And right now, Fabletics is having an amazing sale, 2 leggings for $24 if you become a VIP member. Which, is a pretty amazing deal! And there are some serious perks to becoming a VIP.

Healthy snacks are a must too. These are some of my favorite post-workout snacks.

  1. Cashews
  2. An apple (I like cutting mine up and dipping it in peanut butter
  3. banana and peanut butter on whole wheat toast
  4. avocado smoothie with cocoa (I enjoy the bitter taste of Dutch cocoa) and honey

Also, drinking lots more water definitely is a must for working out, oh goodness.

So, don’t have a Bad day do a workout and find YOUR OWN strength!

School and New Opportunities

The window was open last night which led to chilly dreams and not enough sleep. I am awake now and breathing in the delicious scents of coffee that fill my kitchen. Ahhh… home, what a wonderful place. I think there’s something about being from somewhere; like an innate feeling deep inside that just makes you feel nice. Your home might not be the nicest but there’s something about home that makes up for the discomfort. If that makes any sense at all.

Today I am teaching. Whoot! Whoot! At my grade school. Which in the past, honestly has been kind of rocky. But I guess one can expect that from a school where you had a lot of the same teachers growing up.

Last week, when teaching I had a kid trying to cut himself with scissors in art class and a boy peed his pants during recess. Teaching is an interesting and ever-changing occupation, let me tell you. New challenges every day.

Currently, I’m working on obtaining my bachelors. Hello, summer classes! I’ve honestly thought about going into teaching as a career. But I’m not sure it would make me as happy as say going into art or becoming an author.

But in the same breath, I suppose you could do both. Teaching seems pretty versatile now that I think about it.

Hurrah, I love accomplishing things people doubt I can do. Growing up I was an I.E.P. kid and put with special ed all the time. Sometimes I feel like my life thus far has been fledged with the “you’re not good enough’s.”

But as a T.B.I. survivor or anyone going through depression or turmoil it’s easy to doubt your greatness. So, I’m here to say Hurrah! You can do it, you’re amazing. Today, you’re going to set the world on fire! Don’t let the “I can’ts” and “If’s” get you down. You’re amazing, YOU WERE MADE TO DO THIS!

So as I can assume my school day will be crazy chaotic and I might need another cup of coffee afterward…

Coffee and smiles. Let’s live this chaotic life.

Have a beautiful day!
