School and New Opportunities

The window was open last night which led to chilly dreams and not enough sleep. I am awake now and breathing in the delicious scents of coffee that fill my kitchen. Ahhh… home, what a wonderful place. I think there’s something about being from somewhere; like an innate feeling deep inside that just makes you feel nice. Your home might not be the nicest but there’s something about home that makes up for the discomfort. If that makes any sense at all.

Today I am teaching. Whoot! Whoot! At my grade school. Which in the past, honestly has been kind of rocky. But I guess one can expect that from a school where you had a lot of the same teachers growing up.

Last week, when teaching I had a kid trying to cut himself with scissors in art class and a boy peed his pants during recess. Teaching is an interesting and ever-changing occupation, let me tell you. New challenges every day.

Currently, I’m working on obtaining my bachelors. Hello, summer classes! I’ve honestly thought about going into teaching as a career. But I’m not sure it would make me as happy as say going into art or becoming an author.

But in the same breath, I suppose you could do both. Teaching seems pretty versatile now that I think about it.

Hurrah, I love accomplishing things people doubt I can do. Growing up I was an I.E.P. kid and put with special ed all the time. Sometimes I feel like my life thus far has been fledged with the “you’re not good enough’s.”

But as a T.B.I. survivor or anyone going through depression or turmoil it’s easy to doubt your greatness. So, I’m here to say Hurrah! You can do it, you’re amazing. Today, you’re going to set the world on fire! Don’t let the “I can’ts” and “If’s” get you down. You’re amazing, YOU WERE MADE TO DO THIS!

So as I can assume my school day will be crazy chaotic and I might need another cup of coffee afterward…

Coffee and smiles. Let’s live this chaotic life.

Have a beautiful day!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

“Rain, rain go away come again another day.”

This was a song that my chums and I would sing on the playground as the rain slid down our noses. When I was a child I loved playing in the rain. It is such a freeing feeling to have water trickling down your arms and neck. I always felt like rain were angels tears or something quite heavenly, a little taste of heaven, dropping down. Rain somehow makes it easier to think, to ponder what has been and could be.

My XHIT workout was a great beginning to my humpday! This morning I tried some new XHIT workouts. This workout can be done several times throughout the day. A great way to stretch and strengthen those abs. I’m a hug fan of flutter kicks!

As my cursor roamed around the internet this morning I found a new little website that pays freelance writers called, www.cookingdetective.com. this site pays you to write 2000 word articles on cooking and pays +$100 and up! Being a rainy day, what a great way to make a little side income seems pretty awesome.
Recently, I’ve been reading, “Turn your computer into a Money Making Machine in 2019: How to Make Money from Home.” There’s a lot of good pointers in here, I applaud the author, Avery Breyer, she has written multiple books about making money, available on Amazon.

Another great thing to do on rainy days is to take an EdX class. I am totally an Edx nerd. The beauty of the Edx website is they offer all these courses taught from top-ranking universities that you can audit or take for a very reduced price. If you do pay for a course this can be applied toward your college degree. YEP! you heard me you can take a class for $60 and have it as credit for your college degree.
Rainy day madness, why don’t you update your Linkedin profile, too! Remember to attach any publishments you’ve written. It’s so easy to just attach a PDF to your profile, easy-peasy. Make sure make a succinct detailed resume on Linkedin. It’s can be kind of tricky to piece everything together.
If you need a stress breaker on a rainy day like this grab a hot beverage, my current favorite, is a milk tea. The recipe is quite simple and doesn’t use any exotic ingredients if you find yourself quite far from a grocery store.

Try it out on a rainy day with a good book or good video series.

Small Workout Spinach: Gains

Munching on my fresh spinach blueberry salad I ponder the lyrics “I’m goin’ back to the earth.” Mraz really exemplifies a way of thinking that I quite agree with. Honestly, I think that everyone could gain something from these lyrics.

Mraz, encourages listeners to “turn off your phone.” This is such succinct advice yet in today’s life may seem almost unthinkable. With the thought that people need you, so I need to stay connected.
interesting, I have to agree with his point.

Quite a rip-roaring workout session. My focus today was arms, butt, and my favorite abs. It’s nice to get back into the groove of working out. This is the longest workout I’ve accomplished since my surgery.

Opa!

XHIT is always on my go-to morning workout routine.

I do think that working out is like hitting the refresh button.

Here are my top XHIT workouts:

Inspiration from Poppins: England

“Anything can happen if you let it.”

This somewhat comical and very inspirational song in Mary Poppins, my favorite Disney movie, though honestly, it’s a tossup with Beauty and the Beast. Mary Poppins is one of my favorite Disney heroines whose lyrics I try to live out. This song is so inspirational and urges you “to reach for the stars.” Everything about this song, I wish to emulate in my own life. “Life is out there so go and get it, grab it by the collar.”

Bom dia, cafe por favor

To know a second language is to enter another world.

My morning began with coffee, faux apple pie oatmeal, and some hard-core Portuguese lesson.

So, for all my lovely oatmeal connoisseurs.

Date Inspired Apple Pie Oatmeal:

1/2 c. oatmeal

1 c. water

dash salt

1/2 chopped apple (I used Gala, but any other sweet apple would do)

5 dates

handful walnuts

honey

First set a pot of 1 cup water with a dash of salt on the stove. Once this comes to a boil, follow usual oatmeal procedure, add 1/2 c. oatmeal. Boil, till desired thickness. Add chopped apple, diced dates, chopped toasted walnuts, honey, and spices.

What a rip-roaring beginning to an amazing day!

First, an amazing bowl of oatmeal, let’s be honest, any bowl of oatmeal with toasted walnuts is quite the coup de grace, in my opinion. Besides, I admit, I’m a little bit of an oatmeal fanatic.

Now, vamos estudar!

I became interested in learning Portuguese in college when I was good friends with several Portuguese exchange students and the mostly Brazillian soccer team. It was an amazingly exciting time in my life! Growing up around Spanish speakers it’s easier for me to understand Portuguese. Both Portuguese and Spanish are romantic languages I’d say it’s pretty easy to figure out grammatically and I’m learning the sounds.

The way that I learn languages best is by communication and repetition. I know this to be true of a lot of language learners as well. I will share with you some ways I am learning languages.

One of my solemn favorites is Duolingo, which is available online and as an app. A solid first for conversation is Babble, a free online conversation platform with tons of different languages learners and natives ready to exchange languages. Listening to languages also helps a lot. Coincidentally, Spotify has a lot of resources for learning languages! Currently, I’m listening to “Learning Portuguese with Bruno and Thieme.” Which is a great conversational way to learn a language.

eventually I would very much like to have a real conversation with a Portuguese speaker.

But until then my friends I will just practice. And write for my real job–the newspaper.

So, as always, friends,

Bom dia
