#2: Muses of Maggie

This morning I woke up at the crack of dawn, ready to get a workout in and start my getting slimmer to fit perfectly into my wedding dress— also health and balance.

Oh gee, my balance has really been off recently. I think it’s because of all the riding in the car and school work I’ve been doing. I just forget to workout and take care of myself.

As I write this my face is a sticky mess slathered with a honey and coffee face mask. Because-self care-gals. heehee. It’s nice to do something nice for yourself every once in awhile.

I did an incredible set of workouts this morning in the rising sun peering through my windows.

Well that’s over, I’m snapping back stronger and more determined than before. Here’s my list of goals to prepare for my married academic and growing through my Catholic life.

1. I’m getting organized and going to rock through the rest of this semester my goal is to get a B in my class, Child Growth and Development.

2. Also I want to drop down into a healthy BMI—or my goal is drop one pant size.

3. I am so determined to get some kind of remote travel agent/coordinator job. I love traveling and want to help others with their travel plans. The thrill of experiencing travel if even just vicariously is completely wild and wonderful!

4. Plan an INCREDIBLE wedding to my dear fiancé. While keeping our plans for a glistening water/hot beach honeymoon.

5. Master blogging and affiliate marketing. It is a hard road for a complete beginner like me. I’m just kind of stumbling through this day to day pouring hours into my blog hoping to get a following but most importantly to make encourage others to live vibrant lives full of purpose and exuberance everyday.

Adventures of Maggie: Day Stress, God’s Strength Helps, New Shoes are Good too…

This morning is the second day of my Novena. I have subscribed to the Corpus Christi Novena by John-Paul & Annie I suggest you give it a look. Corpus Christi has passed as it was June 3rd this year. It is such a joyful way to begin your day!

Ok, so today hit me with a little too much stress.

My feet have been aching and swelling in the heat especially when confined to shoes. The soles of my HOKA shoes have been going flat. Comfortable shoes to fit my feet cost so it’s always somethin’ I just gotta bite the bullet on buying. Because sometimes the shoes even if they are good semi-orthopedic shoes don’t fit me correctly.

But finally after much deliberation I made a shoe purchase. Also, a shoe company that in the past has given me soo much comfort when walking. New Balance, great shoes, great comfort. I ordered the NB Nergize Sport. Yes, it does say sport–I will not be competing in any sports save walking.

I bought them directly from the New Balance site.

So, I’m standing on tip-toe to receive my package in the mail!!

Hurrah for comfortable shoes and New Balance!

Blessing #3: Honeymoon Search, Old Jeans and Sunny Walks

This night is going to sleep with dreams of honeymoon destinations.

What a day we’ve had! A beautiful sunny day woke me up this morning. We left at about 9:30am and returned at roundabouts 7:00. Geesh, long day sleepy fiance. Alotta wine too. Goodness.

So, after arriving at a cute coffee shop we hadn’t visited in Ambridge we ordered our drinks. I got a wonderful cappuccino with two squirts of red velvet flavoring. Which was scrumptious! I also ordered an apricot bagel with fresh cream cheese from a local bakery in Beaver, PA. And after that, two or three hours after that, I ordered a really extraordinary latte! So good.

Check it out!

Then we learned from a flyer that there was a wine fest going on that day! What a stroke of luck my friends. We bought tickets and start our walk to the South side of town hopped on this incredible antique trolly with a trolley driver that said he was a former pilot. I love meeting people and learning there stories!

So, we traveled South to North popping into a rare pet store and a whole cornucopia of unique stores. We even saw a couple rare birds, Macaws, I think.

There were tickets that we could deposit at each store in a ticket jar for a drawing at the end of the day. We submitted a bunch of ticket but I guess in the end not enough! Oh well, we had a rollicking good time. But we were not lucky winners.

This other lady, who apparently was celebrating her birthday today won twice. What a nice birthday surprise, for her.

It was a wonderful day filled with sun and holding hands walking down the sidewalk.

What wonderful sunny memories my fiancé and I have made.

Update #1 on Country Living

The winds are brisk today 43 degrees to be exact with a sharp wind that’s bound to make your nose cold and cheeks rosy.

Paradise apple tree

Today, on my walk I came across a currant tree and a Paradise apple tree.

It’s so peaceful outside not a sound.

There are a good deal of Robins and blue jays flying and flitting about outside. Despite the month being April it is still dastardly cold outside and sadly most of my flowers are down and out.

I truly am feeling the cold of PA.

I’ve been making coffee on a regular morning basis pretty much in the dark still. It was very misty moist-y wet this morning.

I just realized I have to watch Shawshank Redemption or Snowpiercer for an assignment due tonight.

So toodles friends! Have a lovely evening

Lenten Penance

Lent has arrived and as a Catholic I am called to give up something as a penitential sacrifice. Meaning if you love chocolate it could be a really good thing to give up chocolate. I did not give up chocolate. I gave up coffee. Which, if you’ve been following my blog, or even seen the name of my blog you know this is a sacrifice for me.

But, I’ve been getting along well so far. Though, admittedly, I conked out yesterday at 11:00 am! and took a hour long nap. I’m feeling tired now, too. Haha, it will be a long sleepy Lent for me but I will hold steady and avoid the Joe.

My NOOM journey that I started a week ago started off really well with me losing two pounds. But then I ate and gained it all back. Urggh, hopefully the weather will get nicer and I can start biking again. I have a trainer that I use too that allows me to just bike on the porch, which is pretty savvy. But its still too cold to even do that!

With NOOM and Lent Kyril and I have been on a pretty strict diet. BUT…. tomorrow’s a feast day, Sunday. Which means we can have desserts and anything that we gave up.

Sooo….! I’m making Kyril a gluten free Black Forest Cake, from Recipe Rebel blog, Black Forest Cake. Which as I’m cooking up the cherries now smells sooo YUMMY!

I tweaked the recipe ever so slightly by adding to the cherries roughly 1/2 cup cranberries to the 2 cups of maraschino cherries. I also added to the cherry sauce an alcohol my fiancé goes crazy over, lol not really, it’s called Cherry Herring. These two adjustments I think will make the cherry sauce BOLDER. Like my coffee that I’m having this morning…

HELLO SUNDAY! (I have given up coffee for Lent and Sundays are feast days)

So this morning we are unable to go to church because we don’t have a car anymore. More on that later, urggh.

The cherry mixture is chilling in the freezer now. I want to get it just cool enough to spread on the whip cream layer on the cake.

Cherry sauce

Yeah it’s chilled and ready to go in between the cake layers! Here we go!

Ok had to pop back in freezer not quite chilled all the way.

Meanwhile, I’ll tell you about why we no longer have a car. On Tuesday I had an appointment a couple towns away. Thankfully my fiancé had time to take me!

So coming back from that we stop at a Sheetz to get a snack because my blood sugar is way low. My eyes were bigger than my stomach!

Back on the road we’re heading home a different direction than we’ve ever taken. It’s cold out about 30 degrees. We’re about half way across the bridge my fiancé’s at the right speed then suddenly we careen into the back of a completely steel truck!

The airbags shot out, and the glass cracked on the windshield cracked in a circle in front of my seat. Immediately, Kyril told me to jump out of the car. Meanwhile the steel truck driver gets out of his vehicle walking over to see if we’re ok. Thank God we are without a single scratch. What a miracle, thank God!

After that incident, though shaken, I am back to my peppy self.

My fiancé and I just got back from a rigorous walk down to the coffee shop to find that they were, unfortunately, closed.

I’m making dinner right now a sweet potato soup I found on NOOM.

All in all it has been a wonderful weekend!

More later friends 😊
